Job Details:
Manchester City Council is seeking an experienced Adults Manager / Adult Safeguarding Practice Lead to support delivery within Greater Manchester Mental Health services (Gateway and Community Mental Health Teams).

The role will ensure statutory safeguarding duties are met under Section 42, with a strong focus on safe service delivery, assurance, and high-quality practice.

This is a fully office-based role (some flexibility may be considered), requiring a candidate based locally. Senior Social Workers and Deputy Team Managers with strong safeguarding experience will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on the safe delivery of safeguarding and adult support functions, ensuring statutory responsibilities are discharged effectively.

  • Provide advice and professional consultation on complex safeguarding matters, supporting decision-making across the service.

  • Manage safeguarding risk and ensure robust quality assurance within statutory frameworks, policies, and procedures.

  • Lead, motivate, and manage a team of practitioners, developing a skilled and confident workforce to meet the needs of Manchester residents.

  • Foster strong multi-agency partnerships with service managers, partner agencies, and stakeholders to enhance coordinated working and service provision.

  • Oversee case management decisions, approve key safeguarding actions, and ensure timely interventions.

  • Monitor and manage budgets in line with financial regulations, ensuring effective use of resources.

  • Support the implementation of legislative requirements, statutory responsibilities, and best practice principles.

  • Drive service improvement, innovation, and change management to improve outcomes for service users.

  • Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of service delivery and team leadership.

Essential Experience:

  • Strong background in Mental Health and Adult Safeguarding.

  • Experience delivering Section 42 safeguarding duties.

  • Proven track record of team leadership and service management.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-professional environment.

Working Arrangements:

  • Office-based in Manchester (local candidates preferred).

  • Monday to Friday, full-time hours.
