Job Title:  Principal Occupational Therapist
Area:  West Midlands Social Services

Job details:  Out of Hospital and Supporting Independence. Occupational Therapist required. The service is looking for a manager with social-care occupational therapy experience and knowledge to step into the Occupational Therapy Team Manager role to cover a vacancy.
Responsible for managing a team which includes Community OTs, Early Intervention OTs at our Duty, Housing OTs and a small number of Children’s OTs. The post is supported by 3 Assistant Team Managers and reports to Head of Service, who is also an OT.
Skills/experience: Occupational Therapists with experience in social care OT, and have a good knowledge of legislation, adaptations practice, equipment use and role, moving and handling practices but importantly, experience of managing a team of diverse and differing levels of expertise practitioners.
This is a dynamic and developing service, with very dedicated staff and a directorate-recognition of the value of OT and would like to meet and talk with suitably qualified and experienced Occupational Therapists with social care and management experience. OT qualified and HCPC registered. JD available on request:

  • To ensure the consistent and effective delivery of the Adult Social Care Offer ‘Our Offer to You’ to citizens.
  • To ensure the workforce works in a person centred way with people, carers and families to promote independence and wellbeing.
  • To be responsible and accountable for the effective management of public resources including delegated budgets and staff.
  • Provide a clear strategic direction for OT services and professional leadership, support and advice for registered and nonregistered OT staff and managers of OT staff.
  • To ensure OT staff have the necessary skills and support to enable them to provide high quality care and treatment; you will make explicit the skills required, and work with managers to ensure that regular supervision, training and development occurs.
  • Take a leadership role in partnership working with other agencies as we develop an integrated approach to service developments which will deliver improved outcomes for people.
