Introduction:
The London Borough of Newham is seeking passionate and resilient Child Protection Social Workers to join our Safeguarding teams. In a borough as vibrant and diverse as ours, you will have the opportunity to make a real impact on children’s lives. You will work with children and families where significant risk of harm has been identified, ensuring timely and effective interventions that safeguard and promote long-term wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
Undertake statutory assessments and child protection investigations, including Section 47 enquiries.
Develop and implement robust child protection and care plans, ensuring the voice of the child is central to your work.
Prepare high-quality reports for Child Protection Conferences, Reviews, and Court proceedings.
Collaborate effectively with families and multi-agency partners, including education, health, and police, to manage risk and deliver coordinated support.
Requirements:
Qualified Social Worker and registered with Social Work England
Experience in frontline statutory child protection work
Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and Working Together to Safeguard Children
Excellent assessment, communication, and report-writing skills
