Theatre Nurse – Scrub, Anaesthetics, Recovery & More – Torquay

Position: Theatre Nurse (Scrub, Anaesthetics, Recovery, Circulating)

Location: Torquay

Pay Rates:

  • Weekday: £26 per hour
  • Nights & Saturdays: £32 per hour
  • Sundays & Bank Holidays: £40 per hour

Contract Length: Full-time, minimum 3 months (potential for extension)


Job Overview:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced Theatre Nurses to join a high-performing surgical team in Torquay. We are looking for dedicated professionals who specialise in Scrub, Anaesthetics, Recovery, Circulating, or Surgical First Assistance to support a range of elective and emergency procedures.

You will play a critical role in perioperative care, working in a fast-paced theatre environment covering orthopaedics, general surgery, ENT, gynaecology, ophthalmology, and more.


Key Responsibilities:

? Scrub Nurse – Prepare and handle surgical instruments while maintaining a sterile field.
? Anaesthetic Nurse – Assist anaesthetists with patient preparation, medication administration, and airway management.
? Recovery Nurse – Provide post-operative care, monitor vital signs, and manage pain relief.
? Circulating Nurse – Oversee theatre logistics, prepare equipment, and support the surgical team.
? Surgical First Assistant – Support surgeons directly, assisting with exposure, wound closure, and haemostasis.
? Maintain high standards of infection control and ensure all theatre protocols are followed.
? Work collaboratively with consultants, anaesthetists, ODPs, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure patient safety and efficiency.


Requirements:

? Active NMC Registration (or HCPC for ODPs)
? Minimum 1 year of theatre experience in Scrub, Anaesthetics, Recovery, or Circulating roles
? Strong understanding of perioperative procedures, surgical safety, and infection control
? Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends
? Excellent communication and team-working skills
