Job details:  To cover vacancy for 3 months. Occupational Therapist required for Specialist Childrens Disability Service. Primarily office based/ flexible working hours/ needs to be able to work late afternoons (after school).
To join a team of Occupational Therapists (OT’s) and OT Aides who support disabled children / young people and their families by undertaking assessments in their own homes and other settings to enable them to be as independent as possible and reduce risks. The emphasis of the work is around the provision of equipment and adaptations. The team provide equipment to assist with daily occupations e.g., bathing, and support carers with advice and equipment e.g., hoists to reduce moving and handling risks. They work closely with Housing, advising on the suitability of properties before families are rehoused and making recommendations for adaptations to a child’s home to meet their needs in line with Housing legislation and accessing Disabled Facilities Grants. The team are increasingly asked to advise on safety for children who have significant learning, behaviour, and communication needs.
• To carry own caseload, to work at pace and off own initiative whilst being supported and receiving supervision from Senior Occupational Therapist and team
• Car driver required
• Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy: Experience in a social care setting and/or paediatrics
• Preferably experience in both a Social Care setting and paediatrics
Strong OT Experience Manual Handling experience. Equipment provision experience Strong assessment skills. Ability to work as part of a team and under pressure. Car driver with access to own transport. This is a city wide role so there are a variety of office bases, the candidates will need to be able to travel city wide to assess from the various intermediate care provisions or homes as required. Working hours: 37 hours per week. Full time. 09.00 – 17.30.
