  • The post holder will fulfil the duties of the Senior Occupational Therapist as outlined below, across the inpatient services for acute adult mental health and learning disabilities.
  • The Senior Occupational Therapist will receive and triage referrals for the four pathways used by the Occupational Therapy Team at the Cavell Centre, allocating work appropriately within the OT team.
  • In partnership with the individual, the Senior Occupational Therapist maintains, restores, or creates a match between the abilities of the person, the demands of his or her activities and occupations, and the demands of the environment to improve function and access to opportunities for participation in daily life. This is to be achieved through structured and thoughtful goal setting.
  • The post holder will demonstrate a high level of understanding of occupational therapy models of practice, provide the skilful use of specialist assessments, advice and interventions to support the service user to engage in a meaningful activity, designed to increase function. This will include providing specialist support, knowledge and advice to team members who have identified a service user’s vocational needs.
  • The post holder will be responsible in providing clinical leadership and supervision to junior colleagues.
  • The post holder will work collaboratively with all disciplines as part of a multidisciplinary team to assure a high standard of care for patient/clients and their relatives/carers, under supervision of the Occupational Therapist Advanced Practitioner.
  • The post holder will be skilled in the facilitation of sensory approaches to support service users with sensory modulation when alleviating extreme distress or supporting emotional regulation.   

Working hours: Monday to Friday (Part time available). 08.30 – 16.30.
