Job Details:  Physiotherapist required for 12 weeks (or longer) working with the Community Learning Disabilities Team (CLDT) Physiotherapy Dept in Shropshire. This is a community-based role where the post holder will work across a variety of settings from home visits to day services and respite, and various community-bases.  The team receives referrals for, but not exclusively, falls, deteriorating mobility and posture assessments.  Therefore, this role will include falls, mobility and posture assessments for complex patients which can lead to providing interventions including exercise programmes, sleep systems and standing frames.  Due to the nature of working with patients with learning disabilities, there are occasions where work is completed in best interests; experience of gaining consent and making best interest decisions would be favourable.  The role would lend itself to someone who has previous experience with learning disabilities, or transferrable skills from working with a variety of neurological, MSK and respiratory based teams.  JD available on request:

  • To provide a highly specialist Physiotherapy Service to adults with complex learning and physical disabilities, undertaking clinical diagnosis, assessment and physiotherapeutic management and interventions.

Working with young people 5- 18 years. Must be experienced in assessment, diagnosis and ADHD interventions. Applicants considered from Mental Health/Learning Disabilities, AHP’s such as Occupational Therapists and or Speech and Language Therapist, or Social Workers with the relevant skill and experience. The postholder will be required to work as part of a highly motivated multidisciplinary team supporting in the triage referrals, providing psychosocial assessments, standardised assessments, contributing to diagnostic discussions, providing feedback to families, and writing diagnostic reports.   • Ensure the delivery of high-quality ND assessments within the BeeU team. The work is with children and young people aged 5-18 years with significant concerns around their social communication and interaction.
  • ADHD assessment involving the interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological and where appropriate self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi structured interviews.
  • Autism assessment involves contributing to and leading on specialist assessments for children with complex social, interaction and communication difficulties. This would include the use of standardised assessment tools e.g. ADI-R, ADOS.
  • To ensure assessments are provided in line with NICE Guidance as well as other relevant local and national documentation.
  • Demonstrate high personal standards in clinical practice.
  • Responsible for prioritising workload, allocation of work to oneself and other staff, and to cover all levels of priority of work within the service.
  • To make clinical judgements backed up by clinical reasoning and recommendations regarding appropriate actions/sign posting in consultation with multi-disciplinary staff and in accordance with the service specification.
  • Knowledge of national, regional and local drivers underpinning service delivery.
  • Up to date knowledge and experience of clinical developments for professionals working within Neurodevelopmental pathways and mental health children’s services.

Working hours:  Full time. Monday to Friday, 09.00 – 17.00.
