About the Role
The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham is seeking an experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapist to support children and young people within Paediatric Social Care. This is a rewarding locum role focused on enabling children with a range of needs to thrive safely and independently in their home and community environments.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide specialist occupational therapy assessments for children and young people referred through Paediatric Social Care.
- Identify functional needs and recommend interventions, equipment and adaptations to support independence, safety and participation.
- Develop individualised, child-centred intervention plans in collaboration with families, carers and other professionals.
- Work closely with social workers, education settings, health professionals and wider agencies to deliver coordinated support.
- Contribute to safeguarding practice and ensure the wellbeing of children is prioritised in all interventions.
- Maintain accurate and timely case records in accordance with professional and local authority standards.
Requirements
- HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist.
- Experience working within Paediatric Social Care is essential.
- Strong assessment skills and knowledge of paediatric equipment and adaptation pathways.
- Excellent communication and multi-agency working abilities.
- Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively to a team.
