Job Description

Job Title:  Neuro Occupational Therapist – Band 7
Area: East London NHS
Salary:  £negotiable
Job Type:  Locum
Contract length:  Ongoing
Job details: Neuro Trauma Therapy Team. Occupational Therapist required for 8-12 weeks. Skills/experience:
UK & NHS experience ideally required.
• Experience of working with acute trauma setting , ideally a regional neurosciences & major trauma centre.
• Experience of working  with acute neurosurgical patients including TBI (to include PDOC, post traumatic amnesia) SCI, neuro-oncology, encephalitis, SAH, CSDH, hydrocephalus etc.
• Experience of working with complex neurology e.g MS, MND, FND, GBS
• Competence with moving & handling skills, use of moving & handling equipment
• Knowledge & skills with assessment & treatment of adults with traumatic brain injury in post-traumatic amnesia, including behaviour management, use of cognitive assessments such as MOCA, ACE 3, multiple errands tests, ability to complete ADL ax with occupational analysis e.g kitchen Ax
• Confidence & competence with carrying basic &advanced neuro assessments and screening of physical, cognitive, visual, perceptual and behaviour
• Confidence with working with adults who are walking wounded and present with behaviours that challenge
• Knowledge & skills re: Mental capacity Act & experience with completing MCA
• Knowledge & skills with complex tone, spasticity & seating, UL management
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment as part of an MDT
• Good prioritisation skills, time management, ability to think flexibly/work under pressure
• Knowledge of discharge & rehab pathways e.g L1, L2, community
• Excellent communication skills & ability to work collaboratively as part of MDT.
• Ability to work autonomously & work as a team lead
• Ideally experience/management of supervision of junior staff

Working hours: Full time. Monday to Friday, 08.00 – 16.00.
