Job details: Aids & Adaptations. Occupational Therapist/Senior Assessment Officer required. Candidates must be a registered OT and have experience of working with Children with disabilities. The role involves carrying out functional assessments for disabled children across the city who have both physical and hidden disabilities. These assessments will take place in the child’s home, sometimes at school as part of an MDT approach with health colleagues and social care team. They will be expected to carry a caseload and to case manage each allocation. You will identify equipment and adaptations that will promote the child’s independence this will include postural seating, specialist equipment such as shower chairs, beds, moving and handling risk assessments, safe spaces, padded rooms and safety assessments. you will make submissions to majors panel for adaptations. You will be expected to attend CiN and MDT meetings where appropriate and liaise with external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for the disabled child. JD available on request:
- The role holder will work to provide direct support for disabled residents and their families in accordance with statutory responsibilities and local and national policies and procedures, effectively identifying cases and/or managing a caseload in order to secure positive outcomes for Manchester residents.
- The role holder will lead the effective development of partnership approaches in order to safeguard individuals through the effective management of safeguarding risk and the recording and sharing of information.
- The role holder will ensure that through effective advice, planning and support and the utilisation of ‘joined up’ approaches, individuals are able to access services appropriate for their identified needs.
- The role holder will support the leadership of the team and service through the provision of advice and supervision to colleagues, contributing to the ongoing development of staff, students and trainees
