Experienced Occupational Therapist required for the Physical Disability and Older People (PDOP) team to support the existing OT team working on duty and holding a small case load. Skills/experience: experience in moving and handling, single handed care, equipment provision and risk management is essential.
The OT needs to have experience of completing functional assessments, moving and handling plans and mental capacity assessments when needed. A good understanding of the 2014 Care Act and moving and handling legislation is required. The OT will need to have access to a car and will be expected to work at the office base as well as at home. 1. To manage a caseload of service users who require an Occupational Therapy assessment of need and support to maintain their health, wellbeing, and independence, working with strength based/outcome focused principles, meeting the needs of a diverse community.
2. To help residents build resilience and achieve outcomes that are important to the person by ensuring that they receive accurate information and advice and signposting to local preventative services.
3. To undertake Occupational Therapy assessments in the persons home, using the PEOP (person-environment-occupation performance) Model of Practice and in line with Care Act 2014; Mental Capacity Act 2005; Mental Capacity (Amendment) Act 2019 and Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended 2007) duties.
